Who are you?
I’m Chufue. Chufue Yang. I’m an actor, model, artist, and empath.
What event in life has shaped you most as a person, and how?
I come from a family of entrepreneurs and seeing my parent's hard work has definitely shaped me the most as a person. It’s their perseverance, their drive and their narrative that makes me want to be a better person every day.
What are you trying to learn?
I’m learning how to fall in love with my passion again, my art. Acting has always been so important to me, it was the foundation for my happiness and comfort as a teenager and I’ve taken a break from that because of modeling and school but recently it’s met me halfway. I received a scholarship for an acting program at the Guthrie Theater, which I’m currently taking now, and will be starting a scene study class at a theatre company focusing on Asian American acting development here in the Twin Cities called Theater Mu.
How would you describe your personal style?
My style goes hand in hand with my comfortability. I’ve always gravitated towards tighter fitting clothes but have moved onto playing around with shape. I have a very minimalist way of dressing too, but never shying away from colors.
What’s a fault you enjoy about yourself?
I have a habit of putting good traits into people. This is a fault of mine but I take pride in it because whenever I meet someone new, regardless of their personal timeline, I will see them as an equal in a world that thrives on inequality.
