Who are you?

I'm a journalist and multimedia blogger. I started my own website called “She Speaks Diversity” and have a podcast series as well as a new Youtube talk show with four of my friends. The show is called She Speaks Diversity: The Veils Of America. Five brown Muslim women expressing their views on what it's like to chase their dreams. I am a self starter. I am a dreamer. I am a hard worker and I acknowledge and appreciate the effort I put into my self development, and love to help others along the way.

Have you always been you?

It took me a very long time to learn to accept myself. I always wanted to be as perfect as I can be. I'm far from it but I learned to love that about myself because nobody else is like me. There are billions of people in this world but at the end of the day, everyone is their own individual and nobody is the same. Imagine the kind of world we could live in if we all learned how to love and appreciate ourselves without allowing society to brainwash us into believing that makes you conceited or cocky? We'd all be much happier.

What event in life has shaped you most as a person, and how?

When I wore the hijab for the very first time. I say this because the decision has brought on occasions that ultimately ended friendships, created trust issues and even caused public harassment. Although situations like these are extremely difficult to cope with, they made me stronger and helped me mature over the years. I'll never regret it.

Is there a quote or motto that you live by?

“Good things come to those who hustle.” I work a lot. It can be tiring but I do it because I am so excited for my career and want to be the best possible version of myself I can be.

What's a fault you enjoy about yourself?

I have a very obnoxious laugh but it's only when something is extremely funny to me. I love it because it reminds me that I'm genuinely happy in that moment.

How would you describe your personal style?

Modest fashion at a great price.
